Federal Crimes consist of both felonies and Misdemeanors. The
distinction between State and Federal crimes is the fact that the United
States Government prosecutes these crimes rather then a State Attorneys
Office. The Office of the United States Attorney prosecutes these
crimes. As with felonies and misdemeanors in State Court the
distinction arises from the level of time in jail that a particular
crime carries.
